Computational Facilities
In
the computational field and besides the numerous latest version PCs and Work
Stations, LTT/NTUA established in 1994, the supercomputing facility of NTUA,
with a Silicon Graphics Power Challenge (14 R8000 processors) and an Inlet
Paragon (48 nodes). This year LTT/NTUA’s initiative, the National Simulation
Facility is created, which will possess Hewlett Packard platform, of a Linpack
power of around 50 GFLOPS.

Measuring equipment:
Instrumentation for measuring almost all quantities
related to operation of turbomachines is available namely:
 |
A variety of pressure transducers and corresponding
conditioners |
 |
Thermocouples and RTD's for temperature measurements |
 |
Multihole probes for measurement in 2-D and
3-D flow fields |
 |
Hot-wires for fast response flow velocity measurements
in 2-D and 3-D flows |
 |
Fast response pressure transducers |
 |
A
3-D
LDA system , with fiber optics, comprising a 1D and 2D
system , for simultaneous three component velocity measurements |
 |
Various accelerometers for vibration measurements |
 |
Proximity
probes for shaft position measurements |
 |
Microphones, for acoustic measurements |
All measurements can be performed by computerized
and remote controlling Data Acquisition. The following systems are available:
 |
A high speed system, with 32 simultaneous channels
and maximum capability of 2 Ms/second. |
 |
Several medium speed systems, with 16 channels each and maximum capability
of 100 Ks/s. |
 |
Several low speed systems, with 32 channels each and maximum capability of
25 Ks/second. |
 |
Portable
system, with 16 channels, 250 Ks/s, for in situ measurements. |
